Mobile Multimodal Impedance-Capacitance Tomograph

Since 1 December 2020, Netrix S.A., in partnership with Sigma S.A., has been implementing a project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund entitled “Mobile Multimodal Impedance-Capacitance Tomograph”.

Project Description and Objective

The aim of the project is to develop a mobile impedance-capacitance tomograph for flow analysis and the optimisation of technological processes. As part of industrial research and experimental development, the following solutions will be developed:

  • A measurement device based on impedance and capacitance tomography
  • A feedback controller
  • Numerical models for process modelling, solving inverse problems using deterministic methods, machine learning, and deep learning
  • A module for data analysis, optimisation, visualisation, and image reconstruction
  • An application running on the tomograph’s embedded system
  • An application for configuring, monitoring, and controlling the integrated system

The project’s product will address the identified needs of target customers in areas such as:

  • Monitoring of technological processes
  • Control and optimisation of manufacturing processes
  • Data processing and analysis
  • Spatial analysis of technological processes

The target market for the proposed solution includes industries such as food processing, chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, and mining. A key role in the project will be played by the Partner – SIGMA S.A., which will be responsible for designing the feedback controller.

A measurable outcome of the project will be the development of a prototype multimodal impedance-capacitance tomograph. Another key outcome will be the creation of an integrated system capable of performing measurements on a demonstration model, with control and data analysis capabilities. The final product will be a fully functional demonstration and testing solution.

The main objective of the project will be achieved through the following specific objectives:

  • Increasing human resources capacity by employing additional staff for the research team
  • Improving the company’s competitiveness by creating professional technical and research infrastructure
  • Increasing the number of innovations resulting from R&D activities through the development of a system prototype together with a prototype of unique intelligent measurement sensors based on tomographic techniques and artificial intelligence
