DefektoVision 3D – An Innovative Tomographic Flaw Detector for Precise Identification and Diagnosis of Damage in Industry

The aim of the project is to develop an innovative 3D tomographic flaw detector designed to identify, locate, and diagnose structural defects and material flaws. The project aims to deliver a high-quality imaging tool that uses advanced signal processing and machine learning algorithms to provide precise analytical results and meet market needs.

The target group and end users of the project are companies operating in the industrial, energy, and construction sectors, as well as organisations specialising in engineering diagnostics, infrastructure maintenance, and quality control. Potential users include both large enterprises and smaller companies specialising in specific industrial sectors.

The project activities will be carried out across three areas: industrial research, experimental development, and an implementation component.

  • Stage 1 (Task 1 – Industrial Research): The work will focus on analysing technical and functional requirements, developing the concept of the data acquisition system, and creating signal processing algorithms. This stage will also include the design and construction of a prototype 3D ultrasonic tomographic flaw detector. The prototype will incorporate advanced measurement electronics for ultrasonic measurements, sophisticated embedded software, a user interface with 3D image reconstruction using advanced signal processing and machine learning algorithms, and a device enclosure suitable for measurements in industrial environments. In addition, a prototype mechanical system for the measurement head will be designed and constructed, followed by laboratory testing of the prototype.
  • Stage 2 (Task 2 – Experimental Development): This stage will involve optimising the device based on the results of laboratory and real-world testing. Activities will include design improvements, optimisation of signal processing algorithms, and development of an advanced calibration system.
  • Stage 3 (Task 3 – Implementation Component): The final stage of the project will involve preparing the 3D tomographic flaw detector for market launch and commercialisation. Activities carried out at this stage will include preparing documentation and training materials for device operation, developing a promotional strategy, presenting the device at industry trade fairs, and establishing cooperation with commercial partners.

As a result of the project, a prototype 3D tomographic flaw detector will be developed to meet market needs and operate effectively under real-world conditions. The device will offer high-quality imaging, effective detection of various types of damage and material defects, and the flexibility to adapt to different operating scenarios.

The device will use advanced signal processing and machine learning algorithms to achieve the required detection accuracy. The final product will be ready for market implementation and capable of achieving a significant market share.
