Integrated System for Optimising Technological and Logistics Processes Based on Artificial Intelligence, Tomography, and the Internet of Things

Since 1 May 2020, Netrix S.A., in partnership with Sigma S.A., has been implementing a project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund entitled “Integrated System for Optimising Technological and Logistics Processes Based on Artificial Intelligence, Tomography, and the Internet of Things”.

Project Description and Objective

The aim of the project is to develop a system for managing and optimising technological and logistics processes related to logistics and production in power plants, biogas plants, and manufacturing companies. As part of the R&D activities, the following solutions will be developed:

  • new measurement techniques and innovative intelligent measurement devices;
  • a system architecture with a mobile interface;
  • new, unique algorithms for optimisation and data analysis, as well as algorithms for image reconstruction and monitoring of logistics and technological processes;
  • a data analysis module;
  • an expert system;
  • a system prototype.

The platform will enable the management of intelligent company structures in the area of technological and logistics processes. It will support the management and optimisation of raw material procurement, logistics cooperation, monitoring of technological and combustion processes, spatial analysis, pattern detection, prediction of failures and downtime, and integration with external applications.

The system will operate autonomously, performing monitoring, control, measurements, and data collection. The collected data will be easy to visualise. In addition, the data will be used to create a unique knowledge base and support the expert system.

The novelty and innovative nature of the system include:

  • a unique technological solution comprising intelligent autonomous measurement sensors and a sensor network model;
  • new algorithms for optimisation, reconstruction, and data analysis.

The final outcome of the project will be a system prototype together with a prototype of unique intelligent measurement sensors based on tomographic techniques and artificial intelligence.

A key role in the project will be played by the Partner – SIGMA S.A., which will be responsible for designing the sensor network model, developing the network architecture and measurement techniques, as well as designing and integrating the individual components of the solution.

The project leader has appropriate technical facilities equipped with research equipment, including a milling machine, spectrum analyser, 3D printer and scanner, function generator, digital oscilloscopes, multimeters, MATLAB, LabVIEW and SketchUp software, as well as resistance and ultrasonic tomographs.

The main objective of the project will be achieved through the following specific objectives:

  1. Increasing human resources capacity by employing additional staff for the research team.
  2. Improving the company’s competitiveness by creating professional technical and research infrastructure.
  3. Increasing innovation generated through research and development activities by developing a system prototype together with a prototype of unique intelligent measurement sensors based on tomographic techniques and artificial intelligence.

Output and result indicators describing the planned objectives:

  • Number of patent applications filed.
  • Revenue from the sale of new or improved products/services.
  • Number of enterprises receiving support.
  • Number of enterprises receiving grants.
  • Private investment complementing public support for enterprises.
  • Number of enterprises investing in R&D activities.
  • Number of enterprises cooperating with research institutions.
  • Number of R&D projects implemented.
  • Investment expenditure on the purchase of scientific and research equipment.
  • Number of enterprises supported in conducting R&D activities.

The project will be implemented within the area covered by the Regional Operational Programme of the Lubelskie Voivodeship 2014–2020, i.e. in the Lubelskie Voivodeship, where both the Beneficiary and the Partner have their registered offices and where the project activities will be carried out.
